A teenager has appeared in court accused of murdering a man who has been missing since driving across the border from Scotland to England in October.

Jack Ryan Crawley, 19, appeared remotely at Carlisle Magistrates' Court on Friday accused of murdering Paul Taylor, 56.

Mr Crawley did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody.

Police are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Mr Taylor, from Annan, who was last seen leaving his home at about 21:45 GMT on 17 October.

It is believed he travelled to Carlisle shortly before midnight on that date.

Mr Crawley, previously of Sheehan Crescent, Carlisle, is next due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on Monday 19 February.
