Things to spot in the new Doctor Who trailer

There was a lot of new information about Doctor Who season 2 in this trailer! We'll help break some of it down.

Introducing new travelling companion: Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu). At first, she appears reluctant to be on adventures through time and space, but girl... She starts to like it!

We imagine Belinda's journey might have its struggles, as by the end of the trailer The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) makes her a dramatic promise that he will return her to her home.

Ruby Sunday is back!

Catch up on iPlayer now or be prepared for some spoilers! Watch Doctor Who season 1 on BBC iPlayer now.

Still here? Okay, spoilers ahead!

After the thrilling conclusion of season 1, we saw Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) decide not to continue her adventures with The Doctor.

However, that doesn't mean she's completely out of the story. Ruby is back in season 2, keep a look out for a brief and spooky scene with her in the trailer as she talks of a creature who likes the taste of fear...

Ruby Sunday returns, she looks concerned at something off screen in a dramatic image.

The Doctor has a few famous friends

There's of course plenty of special guest stars, including host of the Interstellar Song Contest, Rylan Clark himself! Yes, the Rylan Clark is playing himself as the co-host of the galaxy's biggest song contest.

Let's check out which guest stars can be spotted in the trailer and will feature in the new series.

  • Adventuring with the Doctor, we have of course, Belinda and Ruby Sunday.

  • Anita Dobson returns as the unnerving Mrs Flood. We can't wait to discover more of her mysterious character!

  • Bonnie Langford and Jemma Redgrave both return as ex-companion Mel Bush and Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, Commander-In-Chief of the Unified Intelligence Taskforce.

Oh, and if the Interstellar Song Contest sounds like something you'd love to watch... We think you'll feel right at home with Nova Jones on CBBC and streaming on BBC iPlayer.
