With their opponents having won the the FA Cup just over a week ago, and with nothing at stake in their domestic campaign, it made for a day of unified celebration at Anfield.

There was certainly an air of expectation that the Reds would round off the season with a win, but Palace were not reading from the same script and took the lead when Conor Bradley lost possession and Tyrick Mitchell teed up Ismaila Sarr to slot in.
Liverpool had chances to equalise but found Dean Henderson in inspired form and the Palace keeper superbly denied Luis Diaz in a one-on-one situation.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was introduced at the start of the second half and, having been previously booed by some ers following the news of his departure from his hometown club this summer, this time it was all cheers as he prepared to play his final 45 minutes for Liverpool.
Almost half of that time was played with 10 men though because Ryan Gravenberch - a key player in their title win - was sent off for taking down Daichi Kamada when he was the last man just beyond the halfway line.
But despite that, the hosts finished strongly and Salah ensured the campaign did not end in defeat when he struck from close range to prompt more celebrations from the Liverpool fans.

Red smoke flares, Klopp and Salah scores again
Liverpool fans were not able to celebrate inside Anfield when the Reds last won the title in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic, and they have been determined to make up for that with their celebrations for their record-equalling 20th league title.
The streets around Anfield before kick-off were a sea of red as ers - both those going to the game and those who just wanted to soak up the atmosphere - gathered in huge numbers, cheering the arrival of the team bus and letting off red flares.

For the fans, what happened on the pitch was largely academic, and for lengthy periods the Reds were below their usual high stands with some sloppy ages of play.
But the sending off of Gravenberch seemed to galvanise them and they finished the game strongly.
It was fitting that Salah, the league's top goalscorer, notched his 29th of the campaign to cap an incredible season in which he also had 18 assists to set the record for most goal involvements in a 38-game season.
The other players to have had 47 goal involvements - Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer - both did so in 42-match seasons.
The full-time whistle sparked wild celebrations from all sides of the ground, with Palace savouring a memorable end to their historic campaign.
The task for Oliver Glasner now is to try and keep his talented squad together as they look to continue their upward progress next season.
