Air Force One has touched down in North Carolina – the first stop on our multi-state, multi-day trip. And Donald Trump has already spoken to the press for the second time today.
He was quick with criticism – of the federal response to September’s Hurricane Helene here in North Carolina and the way California has handled the runaway wildfires that are devastating the region.
Here in Asheville, we’re going to be reviewing the recovery efforts from September’s flooding. In California, our next stop, we will view the fire damage in Pacific Palisades.
Donald Trump is dressed for what is shaping up to be a long day that starts in the chilly hills of western North Carolina, wearing leather gloves and a coat and sweater over an open dress shirt. His wife, Melania, in sunglasses and a warm hat, is ing him on this, their first trip out of Washington since Monday’s inauguration.
There’s already one obvious change on this Air Force Once trip since the transfer of power from Joe Biden to Donald Trump. The televisions in the press cabin are now set to Fox News instead of CNN – a return to the way it was during the first Trump presidency.
