The phrase for finding yourself out of place made me laugh: encontrarse como un pulpo en un garaje, feel like an octopus in a garage.

Indeed, the idiom is estar más perdido que un pulpo en un garaje, lit. to be more lost than an octopus in a garage, it means to feel confused about something. Do not confuse with como un elefante en una cacharreria, lit. like an elephant in a stuff shop - it´s like a loose bull in china shop.
