Aglio or Olio 4v475p

Whilst in Italy a few years ago, I decided to hire a motorino, moped, to travel around Bologna. I realised it needed some oil and so went to a garage where I asked for some aglio. I couldn't understand why the man appeared so confused - I only wanted some oil for the moped, nothing wrong with that? After some gesticulating to show what I wanted, I got the oil but later found out I had been asking for 'garlic' at the garage instead of olio, oil! I must have thought about the Italian dish spaghetti all'aglio e olio, spaghetti with garlic and oil.
