My girlfriend and I went to to visit her parents. They picked us up from the airport and began driving us to their home. I found myself slowly engaging them in their language. As we ed a brothel I giggled like any young American might and they grinned at my response. At that point, my girlfriend's father turned and as asked me if I had ever visited a brothel. After processing his sentence I immediately responded with what I believed was 'No, never!' What had come out of my mouth was Nie wieder! which translates as 'Never again!' It was quite embarrassing, but I survived.
