Bring your washing 83f17

Planning for a work trip abroad, where I would be staying in self catering accomodation, I rang my German colleague to find out if I needed to bring bed-linen. He was somewhat puzzled by my attempts to find out if I needed to bring Wäsche for the bed. I later found out that I'd been asking if I needed to bring the 'washing' - Wäsche!

Editor's note: Almost! You only had to add Bett, bed, - Bettwäsche!

In some contexts Wäsche can mean 'underwear' as well, so no wonder your colleague was surprised!
