As a new au-pair in the South of discussing my tastes and what I liked to eat I enthusiastically explained J'aime le goût du vent, spécialement le vent rouge. I thought I was saying I like the taste of 'wine', specially red wine but I mistook the pronounciation for vin, wine, saying vent, wind, instead. My French host mom was a bit confused asking Comment peux-tu goûter le vent ?, how can you taste the wind? This confused me even more so I said Dans un verre ?, in a glass? Once we figured out the word switch we had a quite a laugh, turns out she likes rosé wine best :o)
