Flying cow pat e6w5w

When walking in the countryside, I saw a buzzard flying overhead, and was so pleased to realise I knew the French for it, so I shouted to my friends: Regardez la buse là-haut, look at the buzzard up there! Unfortunately I got the vowel sound wrong and they thought I was talking about une bouse, a cow pat, flying up there!

Editor's note: It's all in the pronunciation - bouse, cow pat, is pronounced with a long "ooz" while the "u" in buse, buzzard, is pronounced like an i with your lips pouted.

The same problem happened when I told my mother in law that my neck hurt: as you can imagine, my j'ai mal au cou - "my neck hurts" - did not come out exactly as I intended!

Poor you! It was an easy mistake. But when I read it I couldn't help laughing!
