Your say - False friends 2q556j

I want to become a steak (English/German) 1j1wv

The famous "false friends" story in is about a woman who goes to a restaurant and tells the waiter "I would like to become a steak." For the Germans, bekommen, to receive, sounds like it should be related to the English word become.

Oh, it's my usual problem. German is my second foreign language, so I surprise Germans by saying: "Wenn ich 5 Jahre alt war, wollte ich eine Dolmetscherin bekommen"

Such a true one though! I'm working as an Au-Pair in at the moment (I'm from Florida), and one the kids asked me about my language course. "Do you become homework?" After I stopped laughing I explained to him that become means werden.
