Bruckner’s visionary Seventh Symphony, magisterial and ionate, makes the grandest possible opening for the 2018 festival.

Making his BBC SSO debut is the acclaimed German conductor Karl-Heinz Steffens and he is ed in Haydn’s sparkling and life-enhancing concerto by the winner of 2012 BBC Young Musician Laura van der Heijden.

The concert, which is promoted by the Lammermuir Festival, will be recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3 - currently scheduled for the afternoon of Friday 21 September.
