Temperatures tumble, as autumn is here to stay

Well it’s been a great weekend of sport for Wales and we have a lovely week of weather ahead, if you like dry and bright conditions with chilly nights that is. I know one or two of you like the rain but we're not going to get much this week; lots more gorgeous sunrises and sunsets like this one by Richard Moult in Penclawdd.

Monday looks set to be dry and bright. The only fly in the ointment is a very weak cold weather front which is sinking south eastwards. If you’re unlucky, it will become cloudy for a time with the odd spot of rain, the good news is that the front will push through very quickly! High pressure will then continue to build from the west.

Monday night brings a crisp, chilly night with starry skies and light winds, with the temperatures tumbling down to 5°C or 41°F. Tuesday will start off crisp and bright but it will cloud over through the day. That will most likely make the sunshine hazy. It will feel cooler in the north easterly breeze too, with highs of 12-14°C

The rest of the week looks settled but with really subtle differences. We may just see a bit more cloud towards the end of the week with breezy conditions. The nights will be cold with frost and a few mist patches developing in places. This is all thanks to a chilly wind from the east, but this week's weather is still more like autumn rather than winter.
