This adaptation of 'Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde' uses the original text and is intended for KS3 and KS4 students studying it as a GCSE set text. Each video episode features annotated scrolling text or you can choose to listen to the audio-only version if preferred.
The abridgement includes approximately half of the original text. Transcripts of each episode are available below and on the individual webpages.
Please note: the text includes brief descriptions of violence against a child (Chapter 1, repeated in Chapter 2) and murder (Chapter 4).
1. Story of the door. audio
Utterson takes a walk with his relative, Enfield, and hears a troubling story from him.

2. Search for Mr Hyde. audio
Utterson is anxious about his discoveries and decides to intercept Hyde in the street.

3. Dr Jekyll was quite at ease. audio
Utterson visits Dr Jekyll and raises the issue of his will and the behaviour of Mr Hyde.

4. The Carew murder case. audio
There is outrage at the murder of Sir Danvers Carew. Utterson can identify the murderer.

5. Incident of the letter. audio
Utterson visits a depressed Jekyll and is given a letter - apparently written by Hyde.

6. Remarkable incident of Dr Lanyon. audio
Utterson visits Lanyon and finds him on his death-bed, completely estranged from Jekyll.

7. Incident at the window. audio
Utterson and Enfield encounter Jekyll and are horrified at his changed appearance.

8. The last night. audio
Utterson is summoned to Jekyll's house by Poole, who fears that Hyde has returned.

9. Dr Lanyon's narrative. audio
Utterson reads Lanyon's of his meeting with a strange messenger sent by Jekyll.
