This win not only takes them eight points clear but it takes them above Bristol Rovers, Exeter City and Peterborough.

Cameron McGeehan's second-half header wins the game for Northampton, who climb eight points clear of the relegation zone in League One.

The Cobblers missed a first-half penalty, Sam Hoskins shooting wide from 12 yards, but they were able to find the decisive moment in the match after the break.

Mansfield had chances to equalise, Jordan Rhodes going close on three occasions, but it's a fifth straight league defeat for Nigel Clough's men.
