Northampton sign Forest midfielder Perkins

Jack Perkins first ed Nottingham Forest at the age of eight

Northampton Town have signed Nottingham Forest midfielder Jack Perkins for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old has made six EFL Trophy appearances for Forest and been a regular in their Premier League 2 side.

He has agreed a two-year deal at Sixfields and is Northampton's first summer g after securing their League One status for a third successive season.

"We are well aware of what he is capable of and we had him training with us for a week before the season ended so we could get a really close look at him," said Cobblers boss Kevin Nolan.

"You could see how well he fitted in with the group. We could see he has a really good mindset, a very good work ethic and a strong desire to do well and to compete and progress.

"We feel we can help develop Jack to hopefully become an important member of the squad here and we are looking forward to working with him."

The g of Perkins follows captain Jon Guthrie agreeing a new deal with the club to run until at least the end of next season.
