Ifan Jones Evans checks on new arrivals at the farm, Rhodri Davies visits Margam Park ahead of Eisteddfod yr Urdd, and Megan Williams explores a literary festival in Llandovery.
This week on Country Focus, Ifan Jones Evans is back home in Cwm Cell on the family farm in the Cambrian Mountains, tackling springtime jobs and introducing us to some very special new arrivals — Modlen y Mochyn has given birth! While the sunshine has made life easier in many ways, dry weather also brings its challenges, especially on upland farms like Ifan’s, where water management and sheep rearing schedules are all being rethought in response to changing conditions.
We also head to Margam Park near Port Talbot as it prepares to host Eisteddfod yr Urdd — Europe’s largest youth festival. Reporter Rhodri Davies explores the transformation of the 850-acre estate into a vibrant, temporary home for thousands of young competitors, teachers and families from across Wales.
Also, Megan Williams travels to Llandovery in Carmarthenshire for the inaugural Reading the Wild festival — a literary celebration of landscape, nature and community. From guided walks to creative workshops, the festival aims to reconnect people with the countryside through stories, writing, and shared outdoor experiences.
