Born in Brooklyn, New York, Aaliyah Dana Haughton demonstrated her star quality early on with an appearance on American talent show Star Search where aged just ten years old, she sang alongside Gladys Knight. After g a record deal at 12 years old, her debut album Age Ain't Nothin' but a Number sold millions of copies and was certified double platinum. Her second album One in a Million was produced by Timbaland and Missy Elliot and sold eight million copies around the world, cementing her place as a global R&B superstar. Having made her film debut in Romeo must Die and contributing to the soundtrack with smash hit Try Again she had just finished filming the movie Queen of the Damned and had recorded a music video for what would be the final time, before her life was cut tragically short aged just 22 years old.
