Glasgow Pride: Why people took part in Scotland’s largest LGBTI celebration

Rainbow colours brightened up a grey Glasgow day at the annual Pride parade. But what brought together the thousands choosing to the march?

Showing off? Sure. A carnival of love? A chance to celebrate with friends? A safe space to feel accepted and express who they are? A protest against the everyday prejudice society shows against gender identity and sexuality?

Contributors to BBC Scotland’s The Social project asked young people taking part what Pride means to them.
