A woman has said she and her family were in disbelief when she found a "one in a billion" spherical chicken egg.

Jo Willis, 49, from Bentley, Suffolk, bought the eggs from her friend before she later made the discovery while hard boiling one of them.

The chances of finding such a round egg are reported to be one in a billion and similar peculiar eggs have sold for hundreds of pounds before.

Mrs Willis is now planning on selling the egg and will donate the money to three charities.

Mrs Willis described the egg as "like a golf ball".

"My husband just shook his head in disbelief. They are like one in a billion," she said.

"I thought perhaps I should have checked before boiling it.

"I did think perhaps if possible I could try and raise a little money for the [charity fundraiser] I've been doing.

"Maybe somebody out there just for a bit of fun could offer a bit of money toward my sponsorship and buy the egg."

'Negative into positive'

Mrs Willis started her fundraising after losing a number of people in her life.

"It was after quite a few deaths in the family last year, some close friends and relatives," she continued.

"The closest friend was my husband's best mate, so I thought, 'What could I do">Diversions are put in place after a collision near Ipswich.
