These beautiful highland cows were captured enjoying a tender moment by one of our weather watchers, Nutkin, in Draycott

It was a week to celebrate the beauty of Somerset, from tender moments with highland cows at sunrise to blue skies over Minehead beach.

Meanwhile, cricketer Tom Lammonby and rugby player Sam Maunder launched their new 9|15 café, adding to the county's growing list of exciting ventures.

And a photographer took his camera high up on the Mendips to capture a special celestial sight.

Paw-fect partnership: A woman who started going to dog shows just three months ago has qualified for Crufts. Susie Curteis-Lateo from Wells qualified for the show with her standard long-haired dachshund Swansford Priyankadora, which she started training half a year ago. Congratulations!

Signs of spring: Pond water has turned to jelly at Clarence Park in Weston-super-Mare, as thousands of floating frogspawn appeared in the shallows on Wednesday.

Blue skies: It was a warmer week for Somerset and familiar sites such as Minehead beach (above) were bathed in sunshine and blue skies , which were not dampened by a flurry of rain midweek that caused some flooding.

New venture: Professional athletes Tom Lammonby, who plays for Somerset County Cricket Club, and Sam Maunder, who plays for Exeter Chiefs, have opened a new eatery, 9|15 café. Many of Tom's fellow cricketers attended the launch in of their teammate, including Lewis Gregory, the Somerset captain, and bowler Kasey Aldridge.

Dragon's Lair: The play park at the Bishop's Palace in Wells could be extended. It would include a water sculpture, a living canopy of plants and babbling boulders, expelling small jets of water into a shallow paddling pool.
