Major rail disruption after signalling problem

A signalling system fault at Leeds has caused disruption to rail services in West Yorkshire.
According to National Rail, the fault was rectified shortly before 09:00 BST, allowing services to and from Leeds Railway Station to begin operating as normal.
engers had earlier been warned that trains to and from the station could be cancelled, revised or delayed for up to 45 minutes.
The problem started at about 07:30 BST on Wednesday and National Rail said services were expected to continue being affected until at least 10:45 BST.
Services from Leeds to Chester, Hull, Halifax, Knottingley and Manchester Victoria were among those which were delayed or cancelled.
Train operator CrossCountry posted on X that customers could use their tickets to travel on Northern services via any reasonable route.
Operator Northern said services were unable to run between Leeds and Bradford Interchange, as well as between Leeds and Wakefield Westgate in both directions.
Meanwhile, LNER said its tickets could be used at no extra cost on other CrossCountry, Northern and TransPennine Express services.
TransPennine Express said its services were not directly affected by the signalling problems, but could be delayed due to congestion.
