A 16-year-old girl remains in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a bus in Brighton.

The incident happened on Western Road, close to the city centre, at around 15:40 BST on Monday.

The girl's injuries are serious but not life threatening, Sussex Police said on Tuesday.

A section of the road was temporarily closed as emergency services responded to the scene.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident and no other injuries reported, a force spokesperson said.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
