Two fire engines were sent to the area after a car hit a gas line, Kent Fire and Rescue Service says

A caravan site and a property have been evacuated after a gas leak caused by a vehicle hitting a gas line, firefighters have said.

Two fire engines were sent to the scene in Bullockstone Road in Herne Bay at about 16:35 BST, Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) said.

Those in the area have been warned they may notice the smell of gas, a KFRS spokesperson said.

He said people should "rest assured" work was being carried out to ensure the "scene remains safe".

The spokesperson said: "The person involved in the crash has been assessed by paramedics.

"One property and a caravan site have been evacuated as a precaution."
