Power has been restored to more than 1,000 homes and businesses after a widespread outage.

Energy company Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks said 1,167 homes had been affected by a fault in Frome, Somerset, which was first reported at 12:17 GMT on Friday.

They added that the outage had been caused by a fault on their underground network, with engineers arriving a short time later to fix the fault.

Reports on social media indicate that a number of businesses were affected by the power cut, including a number of supermarkets.
