Baksho Ark was born in Jalandhar, a city in Punjab. Like many Punjabis, her father came to the Midlands to work in the foundries which were recruiting Asian men at the time. Baksho herself arrived here at the age of 6. Her mother taught her how to cook Punjabi food when she was 11 years old. Like many Punjabi families she lives with three generations under one roof and cooks authentic dishes for her whole family. Her grandsons have nicknamed her Bibi Oliver (Grandma Oliver) after Jamie Oliver because they love her cooking!
