Ahead of tonight's performance of John Adams's Naïve and Sentimental Music, BBC Radio 3 New Generation Thinker and academic Seán Williams and writer Rachel Hewitt, a former BBC Radio 3 New Generation Thinker, consider the German writer Friedrich Schiller’s essay On Naïve and Sentimental Poetry and contemporary ideas of sentimentality.
