The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra visits the Proms for two concerts with its current Music Director.

Tonight they are ed by a charismatic Proms favourite who made her debut here in 2001, playing the same concerto.

Before revisiting Beethoven's introspective insights, there is the Proms premiere of a gorgeously flamboyant orchestral extravaganza from one of those German composers whose flourishing careers were knocked off course by the advent of the Third Reich. Tchaikovsky's equivocal triumph brings down the curtain.
