About This Event
Conductor Natalia Ponomarchuk makes her conducting debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, leading a programme of music based around central European folk tunes. Boris Lyatoshynsky – the father of 20th century Ukrainian music – paints a contrasting picture of sorrow and heroism in 'Grazyhna', whilst Myroslav Skoryk’s 'Concerto for Orchestra' draws inspiration from Western Ukraine’s Carpathian Mountains. Cellist Sterling Elliott – a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist – also makes his debut with the orchestra, with Antonín Dvořák’s legendary Cello Concerto.
