This live BBC Radio 3 broadcast conducted by Jac van Steen begins with Piers Hellawell’s ‘Wild Flow’ , a work in five movements which premiered at the BBC Proms in 2016.

BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist Aleksey Semenenko performs one of Shostakovich’s most complex pieces and the last concerto he composed, Violin Concerto No.2

Prokofiev’s Symphony No.6, composed in 1947 as an elegy for the tragedies of the Second World War, completes the afternoon’s performance.
