Turkish novelist Elif Şafak discusses the figure of the djinni (genie) in Arabic mythology, who along with humans and angels, make up the three sapient creations of God, according to Islamic tradition. Like humans, they can exert their will and can be good or bad. BBC Radio 3 New Generation Thinker Dr Shahidha Bari s the discussion.
