On the Today programme this morning there was an item on a new artist collaboration between Radio 4 and Artangel called Open which is looking for proposals for "new ground-breaking projects that will transform the UK's cultural landscape".

While Artangel's previous Open projects have been site-specific, at the press conference Michael Morris, one of Artangel's directors said that "This will be the first time for online environments as well as physical spaces." Artangel co-director James Lingwood also revealed that the selection are looking for three to five projects to run from anytime now to 2016.

Despite Radio 4's involvement there's no bias towards audio pieces and Morris said "This is an open call for artists living and working in the UK working across all disciplines".

Artangel have previously produced Michael Landy's Break Down and Jeremy Deller's The Battle of Orgreave as part of the Open call.

Other announcements for Radio 4 include a new contemporary poetry programme presented by the poet Paul Farley and the launch of So You Want To Be A Writer, both talent search and practical advice for anyone who ever wanted to write.

There'll also be the appointment of Radio 4's first Writer in Residence. Radio 4's controller Gwyneth Williams previously appointed the Uzbek writer Hamid Ismailov as Writer in Residence while she was at the World Service.
